Have students explore the archive first, to get a sense of the project.
Persons aged 13 and over can submit to the archive. However, you may want to have students have parents sign a release if you use as a class assignment depending on your administration and district policy.
Be sure to have conversations on privacy and the internet. Students should not map their home addresses. For posting pictures, students need to ask other people pictured permission before uploading. For social media, email addresses, etc. names and personally identifying information should be redacted.
To give students credit, you can simply have them screenshot their submissions and turn into you via an online platform (i.e. Google Classroom) or by printing the submission page. They can also elect to have their response emailed, which could also be submitted.
