Description (Dublin Core)
During quarantine, me along with many other distance-learners, were deprived from the social interaction humans depend on in order to thrive. We all experienced increased amounts of stress and a lack of motivation for any work. The social interaction we had over zoom was not enough to carry us through the year with smiles on our faces. Although teachers and administrators tried the best that that they could to provide us with with the ability to talk and interact with one another, it was still not enough. The picture above was one that took place on the last day of my sophomore year online. It was one of the happiest moments of my life, as I have not seen my friends for an entire year as a result of the pandemic. After experiencing a whole year of seeing their faces on a screen, I felt a new type of happiness when I was reunited with them. Not having the ability to hangout with my friends and relax every now and then took a major toll on education, which ultimately resulted in the deterioration of my mental health. The picture above means so much to me because of how it was the first time that I had made memories with my friends and enjoyed life, following the pandemic. The pandemic has affected me and many others in both temporary and permanent ways; this experience has taught me to enjoy what I have because of how I never know when there could be a moment where we are deprived from one another again.
