They are completely empty, showing that people are still panic buying these products despite recommendations that these are not the priority and should be bought according to need rather than fear.

Email sent the University of Massachusetts Boston community announcing the first confirmed case of coronavirus in Massachusetts was in a UMass Boston student. The student had been in Wuhan, China and felt ill upon his return. The day after this return, he was tested and quarantined. The email includes information regarding coronavirus and steps students, faculty, and staff can take to help limit the spread of the virus in the coming months.

The email also lays out specific expectations for faculty, staff, and students to prepare for the shift to remote learning and limit the activities of the UMass Boston community.

Public entertainment sites such as Walt Disney World (see picture) have closed due to COVID 19. Additionally, college and professional sports have cancelled or postponed games. At the beginning of the virus teams continued to play but without fans in the stadium. Now sporting events have either been cancelled or postponed including professional teams such as the National Basketball Association (NBA) and Major League Baseball (MLB). College sports have also been cancelled such as the Big East Tournament and March Madness for college basketball.

Toilet paper was among the first items to be bought out of almost all grocery stores/drug stores. It seemed to be the number one item that every household was trying to get their hands on. In this picture one can see the effects of the toilet paper shortage striking the United States.
